Union of Russian artists (1903—1923)
It was founded in 1903 on the initiative of Konstantin Yuon, Abram Arkhipov, Igor Grabar, and Arkady Rylov. Moscow artists of the peredvizhnichesky direction, students of the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture and the art Association of St. Petersburg "Mir iskusstva"played a role in the emergence of the Union. This is an Association of artists of St. Petersburg and Moscow, which arose in 1903 after two exhibitions of "36 artists" (1901-1903), where the masters who showed their works at the exhibitions of the "World of art", as well as a number of Moscow representatives Of the Association of traveling art exhibitions, participated. From 1903 to 1923, the Union of Russian artists organized 18 periodic exhibitions, which were exhibited in Moscow and St. Petersburg (painting, drawing, sculpture, theater and decorative and applied arts), as well as in Kiev (1910) and Kazan (1914). His independent exhibition was presented at the International art exhibition in Rome (1911). Along with collective exhibitions, the Union of Russian artists organized personal exhibitions: S. V. Ivanov (1911), S. A. Korovin (1908-1909), and AL. Ryabushkina (1912) and others. The leading permanent group of the Union of Russian artists were Moscow painters (lyrical landscape, landscape-genre pictures, portrait, interior, still life): M. Kh. Alajalov, A. E. Arkhipov, A. M. Vasnetsov, S. A. Vinogradov, N. V. Dosekin, C. Yu. Zhukovsky, K. A. Korovin, S. V. Malyutin, L. O. Pasternak, V. V. Binders, P. I. Petrovichev, A. S. Stepanov, L. V. Turzhansky, K. F. Yuon. Russian Russian artists 'Union members' systematic participation in exhibitions of provincial associations (in Vologda, Vyatka, Ekaterinoslav, Ivanovo-Voznesensk, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Orel, Rostov-on-don, Saratov, and Yaroslavl), and the influence of the artists of this Association on the development of art at the beginning of the XX century allowed their contemporaries to speak of them as representatives of national Russian painting.
